Our Mission
Our mission is to create a safe place for every child to play as they take on the world.
My Story
When my oldest was born, I was living in Israel at the time. As a new mom, I learned about all of the baby must-haves, and leaned on other new parents for advice to prepare for having a baby. The list was long, but there was one item that was at the top and I was most excited for: a play mat. This would be the biggest item in our tiny apartment, so I wanted it to be the perfect pattern and comfortable. There was one store in Tel Aviv that made custom play mats, and every single mom I knew had one, it was THAT good.
Fast forward a few months to the end of my maternity leave, and my family was relocating back to California. Even though we could only bring a few suitcases, I filled half of one with our beloved play mat. Why? Because I couldn’t find anything like it in the US to replace it! And there was NO WAY I would have any more babies without this play mat.
Two years goes by until I had my second baby. Working full time in tech, I knew that family leave was my chance to bring this amazing product to more families. And that’s exactly how Toki Mats started. During that first year, I spent all of the in-between baby moments researching and prototyping to create the perfect play mat. I wanted to take the same magic of the play mat I had, but improve the quality, designs, and safety.
It’s the magic of our mats that you and your babies all love, and gets me excited to keep growing this brand.
